Hachiko

“Hachiko was born in Akita Prefecture and brought to Tokyo by Professor Hidesaburo Ueno. Every day, he walked with Ueno to Shibuya Station and returned in the evening to greet him. In May 1925, Ueno died suddenly at work and never returned. Hachiko kept coming back to the station for years, waiting in the same place with the same faith. People first saw him as a stray, but over time he became a symbol of loyalty, compassion, and unconditional love. His story outlived his own lifetime and became part of Japan’s cultural memory. Even today, Hachiko represents devotion that does not end when life becomes difficult.”
